5/21/12 Jay Karr/The Island Packet--A 13-foot alligator watches warily at top left as Critter Management's Ryan Claxton, using a shovel as a paddle, tries to approach it on Monday at Jarvis Creek Park. Claxton was hoping to hook and capture the alligator, which had made off with a youngster's soccer ball over the weekend, but every time he got within casting distance, the creature disappear beneath the surface.
